the spike, which extended from one hand of the giant alligator figure that towered over the sleeping Fishboy; the alligator as nightmare id. in the alligator's other hand it held a bowl of fire; a symbol of dreamtime redemption or terror, perhaps. for me it was terror; the bowl was filled with burning paraffin and I was very scared I'd end up underneath it (this fear came true; but fortunately I didn't get buned). the spike was on hydraulics, and in the first part of the show it speared fish off the boy; later I saw it pierce his head and lift his body out of the schooldesk comepletely.
